Beware of Vitamin E Overdosage

Hello Readers,
While wishing you a Happy New Year, please be mindful of this very specific warning-- here goes

From Dr. David Eifrig in Retirement Millionaire:

I warned you about vitamin E… and other "natural" supplements. As I wrote in the February and May issues, many of the dietary supplements peddled as all-natural wonder cures are dangerous to your health.

Vitamin E was one I specified. Here's what I wrote: "Vitamin E in high doses can be deadly. If you take much more, you can experience fatigue, muscle weakness, headaches, and excessive bleeding. Some people are taking 1,000-2,000 IU a day at great risk to their health... Vitamin zealots claim E is the fountain of youth. Again, it isn't. And no amount of name-calling or anecdotal claims should convince you otherwise."

On October 11, the Cleveland Clinic released a study verifying my warning. A front-page article in the Washington Post reports the study of 35,000 healthy men showed that those who took vitamin E in large daily doses (the size commonly available in supplements) increased their risks of prostate cancer 17%. The Post quoted Eric Klein, a Cleveland Clinic prostate cancer expert who led the study: "You really have to question now how taking Vitamin E will help someone... Not only is it unlikely to help them, it apparently could hurt them."

As always, some supplements are beneficial (I regularly take vitamin C), but some are not. You need to understand the chemistry of anything you put in your body.

Once again, have a happy new year

I'm Dying of Infections

Hi Dr,

Please I really do need your help; I am a guy of 25years old and I I'm having a problem of infection in my body for over 11 years--1999 to date my body has never been the same. I used to have hotness of the body all the time and a crawling moving object "body sensation" since 1999 to date and I do not know what to do because a doctor in a big city hospital told me that I will be Ok; that it’s a thing of the mind; but of course I do not agree with him and I told him what I felt in my body. I have gone to several medical laboratories but the last one I visited told me that I have an infection combined in my body system, please how true is this? A man in a chemist once told me that it’s a sexual infection and it has been in my body system for a long time now-- 8 years. Please help me out I am dying gradually and what kind of medical solution do I seek for? Yes of course I do agree that it’s a Sexual-infection as I could remember. The most painful part of it is since then 1999 I have not had a natural unprotected sex because I do not want to infect someone else or my girl-friend with the infection in my body. Please I beg you with the name of almighty God help me out in any way you can. I want to live a normal life like every other person. I would be happy to hear from you soon next. Please reply me back as soon as possible I am waiting to hear from you immediately.
Jubril Markson from Surulere,Lagos

Dear Jubril,
Your problem is so typical it's a crying shame the doctor who should recognize it and help you has not, leaving you to lab scientists and chemists to batter; yet this is a most usual pattern and is happening right now to so many that it would be correct to call it epidemic in proportion. The last part of your mail is poignantly correct and typical. Sex occurs. Sometime in the past. This particular encounter is different in some way - something strange, particular, remarkable, different, spectacular and note-worthy happened during the encounter or just shortly after it that indelibly stamps that particular sexcounter in your mind -- does not matter whether you're a man or a woman. Again, (and usually without any help -- but sometimes with a little help) you can clearly remember what happened -- or at least -- you can remember that person, encounter or place -- I mean WHEN ALL THE SYMPTOMS BEGAN. And then you go to a qualified doctor to tell him all this and he tells you it's all in your mind -- you should forget it -- yet you are in daily -- nay hourly -- a times, moment by moment TORMENT!!!
Somatisation Syndrome is what you suffer from. A times it stands alone, a times it has or is associated with Staphylococcus aureus infecting some part or other of the body --principally the pelvic organs-- like bladder and the urine, prostate, fallopian tubes, cervix, vagina and so on. Noisy belly, pains, discomfort or some funny feeling in the groin/waist/pelvis may or may not be present. Somatisation or Staphylococcus Syndrome is really an apt term because whenever the word syndrome is used it means doctors do not fully understand the problem. However, there is a cure and we have routinely cured many. Isn't it then an STD -- sexually transmitted disease? No, only "Sex Associated”. That is the correct and better term. More details available when you send for the Free Report called "Somatisation Syndrome" and/or "Staphylococcus Aureus" (e mail to staphdoctor@yahoo.com). You can also read the detailed report at www.mediamedix.blogspot.com. We will help you and the day will soon come when you will diligently search for all your miseries and marvel they are gone -- never to return!!!

This Doc is too much!!

Hello doc,
I read your column in Daily Sun Newspaper of Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007 on "Clarify Contraceptives" and I was so impressed. The way you explained this contraceptive and ovulation thing, even a market woman would understand!!! And as an aspiring medical doctor, I even understood better these things that our lecturers and professors teach us but which appear so difficult.
Truth be told, u are the best. And that is not flattery because everybody knows it-- including you. Doc, you are too much. Please keep it up.
Dr.2B, Enugu

Dr.2B,
Thanks, dear Dr.2B; thanks a million.
Let's just give all the glory to the One who owns it all and gave us an infinitesimal bit of his bounty -- the Almighty God. Thanks once again. Hey-- everyone --if you genuinely feel like our Dr.2B, why not copy your mail also to the editor of Daily Sun himself – send it by e mail to styveng@yahoo.co.uk. That is the editor’s email address. Also, if you look in the archives of old posts, you can read the said article "Clarify Contraceptives" and educate yourself in a topic all adults -- whether male or female should be very conversant with.
Thanks and Cheers

GNLD; Ovarian Cyst; HIV Symptoms etc

Hello Sir,
How are you today? Hope you’re doing just fine. I have been a regular fan of yours for quite some time now and have dutifully followed most of your recommendations. But please I will want you to reply this letter in confidence. I don't want you to publish it. Please as am writing you now, I am supposed to be in the hospital right now undergoing a surgery for ovarian cyst but my fear is that they said it cannot be operated upon especially for a lady still desiring to have issues. So please try and reply this mail and tell me if it is possible to operate or not and the consequences of the surgery.
Also I will want to know the symptoms of HIV and how one can get the drugs. Also is it advisable to use herbal drugs like Tianshi and GNLD as part of your drugs?
Helen Asuquo, Eket,

Dear Helen
GNLD is okay -- if you have the funds. I mean they won't harm you and in plenty cases have helped, okay? My only grouse is why we should allow another colonial experience-- why can't we make our own nutriceuticals? Half a dozen main symptoms of HIV/AIDS in Nigeria are a)TB/Chronic Cough with b)Anemia -- not enough blood and so, weakness; c)Diarrhea that won't stop, d)Skin rashes that won't treat e) Weight loss and finally f)Swellings of the lymph nodes. To get the drugs? Go to LUTH and NIMR -- National Institute of Medical Research, Yaba, Lagos.
Ovarian Cyst? Do the operation, okay? Follow what the doctor told you. Listen—if you leave this condition untreated and uncorrected, it will be very difficult for you to get pregnant. Some cysts add further problems -- they cause you to be big in the belly and give discomfort. Such cysts need to be operated and then you can get pregnant with further treatment. So listen to the doctors and not these people who want to confuse you, okay?
Cheers

Masturbation and Premature Ejaculation

Masturbation and Premature Ejaculation
Dear Doctor sir,
If one masturbates oneself everyday what can it cause? Please help me answer by email.
You can publish, but do not use my name. I also have a second question -- suppose one
releases quick during sex--what does it mean?
Larryman Adamson, Lekki
Thank you
Dear Larryman,
Masturbation causes 5 things. Physically it reduces the volume of the ejaculate --and
eventually the sperm count--on a temporary basis. Not so good for the infertile--don't
you think? Psychologically, psychiatrists will tell you that there is a compulsive (junior
brother to addiction) component to masturbation-- the practitioner simply gets so engrossed
in it he cannot really stop himself or control himself anymore--he is driven--- compelled; even
forced to do it --even when his interests are not best served by masturbation. That is why
atimes married masturbators leave their spouses and still go about masturbating--after
marriage! That’s a third complication--both physical and emotional--of masturbation.
A fourth complication is the feeling of low self worth or esteem the masturbator suffers.
The excitement and anticipation is there before the act. After the act, instead of fulfilment,
achievement and satisfaction there is worthlessness, a feeling of depression and sadness,
the distinct feeling of being used, guilt, unhappiness and indignity.
Number five -- those of us who understand the spiritual know that this is true - there is
spiritual contamination by spirit spouses--incubi and succubi.
Now if we want to dispute this last part and deny them, no problem. The remaining
scientifically proven other side effects are not good for anyone, I believe and trust
everyone without exception will agree with me.
Releasing quick--faster than you or the woman want or need to -- during sex is caused by
either ordinary psychological over--excitement or inexperience(the primary type) or by
disease(the secondary type) in the man. The first type has always been the experience of the
man--right from his first day of sex. The other type just began recently and is due to a
to find the cause so as to apply appropriate cure.
We prepared a Do- It -Yourself (DIY) manual for sufferers of the first category.
If you request for it we shall send details of how you can lay your hands on it. The second
category will need proper medical evaluation so as to be treated properly and permanently.
Cheers

Disappearing Menses!

Disappearing Menses!
Hello Dr.
I have a problem that is already giving me nightmare. Since November last year I have been experiencing menstrual cease of which I do not know the cause.
Normal I do menstruate for five days until last year November when this problem started. I was waiting for it thinking it will come out because I do experience irregular period so after December it dawn on me that I might be having a problem so I ran to a Pharmacist friend and explain to her, she prescribed two menstrogen injunctions and folic drug, after the injunction one week later my period came out with the normal flow of five days. (During this time I never made love with any man so I was not suspecting any pregnancy)
After that I saw my period around 22nd January, 2004 since that time I have not seen it for February and March. I do not know why my period should be ceasing at interval.
Doctor I want to know the cause of this whether is a hormonal imbalance because that was what my pharmacist friend suggested. (WHAT DO I DO)
I await your response. (Please reply me through my mail box not in The Sun Newspaper)
F.J.G;Abuja
Dear FJG,
Well, well well...
Let's tackle this together---shall we?
Okay, what's the major reason a woman will not see her periods? Easy--everyone knows the answer to that--if and when she is pregnant; isn't it? Okay? But you said you had no sex. Well, I've learnt to take that with a grain of salt-- I never believe women who say they did not have sex. Why? Oh, because-- sex is not only when you are penetrated. Too many ladies have had groovy times--genital contact of all sorts and still come and tell you they are virgins--meaning they have not allowed penetration in full--many times a little penetration occurred too -that is if you probe very well--so; always the first place to start is to prove she is not pregnant and just sending you on a wild goose chase. Apart from real pregnancy, there is dead pregnancy --missed abortion--in which the woman has been pregnant in the recent past but the baby had died in her womb but being unknown to her. Only a scan can detect a missed abortion--as we call this condition--or a missed misscarriage . The remedy, after finding out is to do a D&C and the lady will soon resume her normal periods. Following right after that is what we wrote about very recently--Asherman's Syndrome --the lady's D&C doctor has been too over enthusiastic in scraping her womb for the D&C; now there is no more uterine lining to shed!!!. That's number three. Number four is the use of any contraceptive pill; or even of the injectable known as Depoprovera to stop pregnancy. The after-sex pill, Postinor can also cause this. Here, the remedy is to stop the use of these agents and wait for the menses to return to regularity. Number five, is Stress--too much trouble/challenges from every and any source. Let me give some common causes of stress. Some loved one or the other is sick; you have exams; you are an athlete and you have to practice strenuously; you've been jilted or are about to be; you are sick--TB; PID; Anemia and so on. All these are causes of stress or challenges. Number 7 is this --and listen very well. Do you have milk coming from your breasts? If so, you could have the Galactorrhhea--Amenorrhea Syndrome --from pituitary or brain level problems which, fortunately can be easily remedied today by modern medications; Seven is the tampering with the adrenal glands that some people do by self medicating with steroid drugs such as Dexacortin which will cause Cushing's disease, and which we have fully treated in this column before; Seven is --again listen for this is a bit common too--do you have pimples? Are you fat/really big; do you have some facial and excess chest/ abdominal hair rather like a man? It may well be this is the cause of your problem. The condition called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome makes ladies--just like any other cause of scanty menses to be--infertile or at best subfertile. Weight loss that leaves the woman skin and bones will cause her to miss her periods also malabsorption or celiac disease will do the same because it will cause anemia first. If a woman has a goitre--high thyroid hormones or less (atimes), she can also miss her period.Disappearing Menses!

Can they Concieve?

Dear Doctor,
Sir, I want to commend you for the good work your are doing out there, I read your article published on the Sun Newspaper that’s why I came up with these questions for your advice and solutions: A man with watery sperm can he pregnant a lady. A lady that the menstrual cycle is between 34- 37days can she conceive? How can she determine how ovulation with this cycle Thank you for your understanding
Charlene Archibong; Loving Hotel, Uyo

Dear Charlene,
Watery sperm or semen is neither here nor there -- that is -- whether it looks watery or thick does not mean anything--it could look watery and be good; it could look thick -- and be empty of sperm cells; okay? The only way to be sure what it contains is -- You must do a test called SFA -- (Seminal Fluid Analysis) on the semen before you can say if it contains enough sperm cells to get a woman pregnant or not. You see, after a few minutes of release, the semen turns to water -- we call it "liquefaction" -- "turning into liquid -- turning into water or becoming water-like"; so you cannot base anything on seeming wateriness or seeming richness as in thick; okay? Great. Now, I agree that 34-37 days is a little far away from the more common 28 -30 days, but with menstrual cycles, 22 to 45 days is the range, that is allowed, so 34 -37 is still okay upon one condition-- has it always been like that with the lady or it was 28 days or so before and has only changed to the 34 to 37 days? I mean as a girl newly beginning menses in teenage how was it? That is the way it is supposed to be -- before the vicissitudes of life begin to affect it. So if it was so from the beginning-- we call this beginning the menarche-- it is okay now -- for that lady --not for every lady. If it was not so, then something has really gone amiss; okay? Now, for every woman and every cycle, there are two fixed phases or parts to the cycle. Part A + Part B = Cycle Length. Again, A+B =C where C is the length of the cycle. There is the first phase ("A") which is also referred to as the proliferative phase. It is this phase that varies in length. It ends with the release of the egg at ovulation; that is immediately ovulation has occurred the first or proliferative phase of the menstrual cycle has ended. The other phase ("B") does nothing of the sort; but is constant at about 14 days from start to finish. This "B" part begins immediately after ovulation and ends with the new menses beginning. It is constant and won't change -- this luteal phase or second phase. If it will change at all, it will be within just two days less and two days more. This means between 12 and 16 days at the most. Now, every woman has a first phase whose length in number of days is variable and a second constant phase at about just 14 days; so that once the ovulation has occurred about 14 days before the next menses, you can be sure the menses will come about 14 days later. The formula, if we use another set of symbols, again, is, L= F+S; S=14. So, L=F+14. Where L= Length of cycle; F= First phase; S=Second phase. So you have, in your case, 36 = F+ 14; since we said that the 14 day part is constant for all women. F=36-14 F=22. So, for you, check for your ovulation about day number 22 if the day you started menstruating is day number 1, and your cycle is 36 days long. This is how you determine ovulation within this kind -- or any kind or length of cycle. I hope you get it? If your own length of cycle is 30 days or 28 or 35 or 26 or whatever, just use the formula and you can actually and accurately calculate when your ovulation or release of an egg will occur --so as to either plan sex for that very day if you want to get pregnant or avoid sex around that period if you do not want to get pregnant. I'm sure you got it now? Send feedback.
Cheers

Please Save My Marriage

Dear Doctor Bibbi,
I am a 33 year old man, and my marriage is about to die, the love that we use to share is not there anymore. My wife says that my penis is too small and it does get weak whenever we make love together. So i want you to advice me on the kind of drugs for my penis to grow bigger and stronger or is there any cream that I could use that can be seen in any of the pharmacies around? I thank you for all you have been doing for a lot of people by way of advice and encouragement on the pages of newspapers. I have been your regular reader since your days in the punch news paper till date though I lost touch with you for some time now. MY PROBLEM....
I read on the daily sun of Tuesday, October 17, about a young man of 26years (Makieueba) who has the same problem I have of unsatisfactory performance. I had been a very active young man in bed before and after marriage but suddenly I became a shadow of myself in that I can't last 5 minutes or at times I suddenly get weak in the process BUT the worst happens that I get so weak and sleep off immediately after ejaculation. I am afraid of making sex advances at my wife because I do not know what the outcome will be. Sir please help me as I do not know what to do.
Thanks. Please reply
Worried man, Warri

Dear Worried Man,
Sex is important in marriage-- yes, but you do not need a horse- sized penis to satisfy your woman. Most women, when something is wrong in sex-- have no idea what really is the cause -they just know they are not satisfied -- but they keep pointing at whatever they erroneously feel is the cause. Here are 5 major causes of problems in sex in marriage --1. Premature Ejaculation by the man 2.Lack of enough foreplay by the man 3.Weak erection or no erection at all-- the man cannot get it up 4.Emotional/Relationship problems between the man and the woman that filters into sex and spoil it and 5.A woman's inability to be satisfied. Notice I never mentioned small penis. It is not the quantity but the quality-how you use what you have to satisfy the woman. If you want to fully understand this area of sex, send to me at betterloverz@yahoo.com. Ask for “How to Satisfy Her” This is what you really need-- not increased penis size. Also, it is very instructive that you remember a time in the past when you were really good in bed. If you were good then with the same penis, it shows the current problem has nothing to do with penis size. Your premature ejaculation and only one round usually is caused by infection of the prostate gland called Chronic Prostatitis. It can be cured but is a dicey proposition—you need experts who understand the disease to get rid of it. We have helped many and will help you if you follow instructions. Finally, if you still want to increase penile size and you have at least 100,000Naira, then we shall help you. Send to the same address and caption it SIZE

Who shall I Marry—Lover or Money Bag ?

Dear Doc,
I like the ways you have been answering and making suggestions for people. I’ve these men in my life. One is hard working and the other is rich. But the first one loves me very much and the other, I’m not too sure. I really want u to give steps to meet the right man. Because I want to get married this year; thank you.
JGFUSDFU, Jalingo

Dear JGFUSDFU,

The answer is simple--which one do you love?
There are only 3 answers possible. a)You love Harry Hard-Worker. b)You love Rikky Rich-man. c) You do not really know which one to marry-- as in you are confused. I would think the answer is c. If you do not know listen -- the right man is always the lover-man; not the loaded man --unless the loaded man is also the lover. Read your letter again -- you have your right man-- the one you know, say and are sure loves you. Simply go ahead and marry him; okay? Never marry for money but for love. Why? Love is God ; God is Love and Love(God) owns all things. So, the money will come; but Happiness will live with you both from the very beginning; Joy(inner) will serve you and peace will forever garrison you. But with no love and only money between you --remember, by your own assessment and confession--YOU ARE NOT SURE HE LOVES YOU; you are never at peace; there is no joy and you can never be happy-- he might just decide that you are his next ritual victim to make more money (Don't mind me). But that's it; okay? "Owo ko ni'fe" --money is not love--it's just dumb old, impotent money; okay? Further queries in this area ? send an e mail to: docmarrylove@yahoo.com

What's the Matter with Me?

Dear Doctor,
I really appreciate you and the way you are giving
solution to people's problems as published in "Daily Sun News Paper" sometime ago. I am a young man of 25 years Doctor, please am having problem with my health and hope that you will help me out. In my stomach or somewhere around my left hand side,
there seems to be filled with water which often worries me a lot thereby disturbing my stomach with different reactions. whenever I make my stomach moves, at times by breathing faster, you will be hearing this water making move and gives a loud sound showing the presence of something like water. Doctor the next thing I notice is that I begin to urinate frequently and most times now, it would be as if the urine wants to come out from my dick by itself but when I go to urinate, it might only be small urine that will come out. I have consulted a doctor who prescribed some anti-biotics which I took but no any change yet. Doctor, please what is wrong with me? It is getting to six months now. Could you please tell me what is wrong with me and the medication for it. Please, I want this case confidentially treated by hoping that you will only reply me by e-mail only not to be published. Thanks in anticipation.
Brown Bolanle, Ondo

Dear Brown,
The abdominal region of the body--which you refer to as stomach-- contains many organs-- from the real or actual stomach which stores eaten food and drunk water, to the liver, the spleen the intestines the urinary bladder, the prostate, and at the back, the kidneys. A times the pain one is feeling in the abdomen is not coming from the real or actual stomach but is coming from any of these many organs; even a times in pneumonia from the lungs!! The job of a medical doctor is to ferret out the culprit among these many organs when he consults for you. He will need to conduct a proper interview on you; physically examine you from head to toe but especially in the abdomen from where your complaint originates. Then, he will need to order appropriate laboratory tests and interpret them when the results are ready so as to make a proper diagnosis; okay? Only then can treatment follow and be effective. As it is now, I can only GUESS that you have an upper Urinary Tract Infection -- maybe a chronic prostatitis-- prostate problems can feel like they originate in the belly or abdomen --when actually they are from the pelvis. Bottom line -- no one can safely say what is the cause of your woes, except to follow due diligence by interviewing thoroughly, physically examining you and lab. Testing specimens from your body. Here are six-odd conditions I would think of as I examined you if I had a chance to do so:1.Worms 2. Ulcer 3.Chronic Prostatitis; 4.Urethritis. 5.Cystititis; 6. Colitis.
I would then proceed to eliminate the ones that do not fit your consultation findings and pick the one(s) that approximate, most closely, your features. I would then treat along those lines. See a good doctor/gastroenterologist.If you want our help in anyway, use the help lines

Danger in Steroidal Drugs For Weight Gain

Dear Dr. Bibbi Oluranti,
I thank God for the knowledge and wisdom He gave you, and the way you utilize it wisely. I am a regular reader of your column. My problem started when I was desperate to add weight last (2) two years ago.
I went to many dealers (chemists). Finally, I was recommended Dexacortin which I used --two and half bottles-- and it worked. After 8 months, I realized that there are strange pimples, dryness, skin thinning and irritation on my face and body. I went to a dermatologist who prescribed some drugs for me but I still noticed small amount of pimples and skin thinning while I weigh 80kg as of this month. Please doctor, help me for I have no other person to complain to; you are God's gift-- I believe your solution is final--I have the faith.
Thanks
F.J, Owerri; Imo

Dear F J
Like all the above has said it is true that the drug Dexacortin and other steroids can be abused in the manner you did. One of the commonest reasons why people do this is because they believe it will help them gain weight.--and it does!! Sportsmen abuse steroids because they are looking for stamina and increased muscle mass. But this is diseased weight--not normal at all.
The way to get rid of the evil side effects of the drug is to stop early and gradually. Where gradual withdrawal --using less and less amounts per time--is not possible or has not been done, the only thing is to give the body time to adjust and come back to its former balance--may take up to a year or more. Side effects like lowered sperm production in men and reduced size of testis--testicular atrophy-- and can be reversed while baldness and gynecomastia-- development of breast --cannot be reversed in men. In women, side effects include virilisation--making the woman more like a man-- no menses, more developed clitoris deepening voice decreased breast size and so on. Of course, the other side effects you mentioned must not be forgotten-- thinning hair, and so on. Again the more prolonged the use, the greater the likelihood that the results will become irreversible; so let me warn anyone abusing steroids (or any drugs for that matter) again--stop it-- IT IS NOT GOOD FOR YOU.
One other lesson we must not forget to teach is --beware self medication; beware chemists, nurses and other paramedics’ (not specifically mentioned in these letters) treatment -- always insist on seeing a doctor.
You can call the help lines and ask for help to resolve lingering side effects
Cheers

To Prevent Malaria

Dear Doctor,

I wonder, what can one use to actually prevent malaria in the environment? Thank you in advance

Dear Joe,

Yes, it is true you can prevent the transmission of malaria by the use of any of the following methods generally reffered to as non-drug prevention. The list is courtesy Evidence -Based medicine website.

Insecticide treated nets In adult and child residents of malaria endemic settings, one study found that insecticide treated nets reduced the number of mild episodes of malaria and reduced child mortality.

Insecticide treated clothing in adults Two recently concluded studies in soldiers and refugee householders found that permethrin treated fabric (clothing or sheets) reduced the incidence of malaria.

Aerosol insecticides in adults While one large questionnaire survey in travellers found insufficient evidence on the effects of aerosol insecticides in preventing malaria, two community studies in residents of malaria endemic areas found that indoor spraying of aerosol insecticides reduced clinical malaria.

Air conditioning and electric fans in adults One large questionnaire survey found that air conditioning reduced the incidence of malaria. One small observational study found that electric ceiling fans reduced total catches of culicine mosquitos in indoor spaces but did not significantly reduce total catches of anopheline mosquitoes.

Full length clothing in adults One large questionnaire survey in travellers found that wearing trousers and long sleeved shirts reduced the incidence of malaria.

Mosquito coils and vaporising mats in adults One case-control study of coils in travellers found no evidence of a protective effect against malaria. One study of coils and one observational study of pyrethroid vaporising mats found that these devices reduced numbers of culicine mosquitoes in indoor spaces.

Smoke One controlled clinical trial found that smoke repelled mosquitoes during the evening.

Topical (skin applied) insect repellents in adults One small crossover RCT found that diethyltoluamide (DEET) preparations protected against mosquito bites. DEET has been reported to cause systemic and skin adverse reactions, particularly with prolonged use.

Acoustic buzzers in adults; biological control measures.

PID or Secondary Amenorrhea?

Dear Dr,
My wife was diagnosed of PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease). She was placed on drugs, which she took religiously. Though the Scan cannot see the Sac containing some fluid which is believed to be PID in her body again. But she has not seen her period for over four months now (even when she is not pregnant) and she is still having a whitish vaginal discharge. How can you help us?
Thank you sir.
T.J. Oscar

Dear T.J
Not seeing her period for 4 months is not PID; it's something else -- Ovarian Cyst(fatness; hairiness like a man --on the chin, chest, lower belly and thighs, infertility, pimples, scanty; atimes missing or heavy menses); Missed Abortion(got pregnant and pregnancy died yet she was ignorant of it); Asherman' Syndrome (over scraped lining of the womb during previous D+C); Hormonal Imbalance (too high prolactin mostly; breastfeeding);Contraceptives (inject able or oral may take time to reverse) and Premature Menopause (hot flashes or heat, breast flatness, lost interest in sex; dry vagina; late 30's) -- these are some half a dozen common sources or causes of secondary amenorrhea -- the loss of menses after a woman has already experienced menses. Another half a dozen -odd causes that are less common and more easily overlooked include --Severe sickness; Skinniness (too thin); Stress(exams, excess fear; severe conflicts etc); Some medications; Sick thyroid gland (hypothyroidism); Too much exercise (athletes; sports); Unknown causes. PID does not cause menses to disappear, okay? Great. Now, whitish Vaginal Discharge is normal to everywoman so long as it is not itchy, smelly or too plenty --- at which times it means disease and needs treatment. Go to www.mediamedix.blogspot.com to access our free report on "Understanding Vaginal Discharge" or e mail us for it. You do not need to be told you need to see a good doctor/gynecologist to sort you out and find what caused your wife's secondary amenorrhea. Hurry

Measles and Spirits?

Dear Doctor,
Thanks for what have been doing for Nigerians at no cost in the Daily
sun. Your column has become a must read for me every Tuesday. Meanwhile, I would be happy if you can help me out on this important health matter that has become an enigma of a kind.

What is measles? Is it curable through orthodox medicine? Is it true that it allergenic to infection? What are the symptoms? How can it be prevented and cured? I am forced to ask the above questions surd discussions I listen to
everyday about measles (which continue to kill children without ceasing here in PH, even during rainy season). Some say it is caused by spirits that reside among plant sun as plantain.

Kindly help out.
DFE, Akure, Ondo State

Dear DFE,
Measles is a viral infection and is not caused by any spirits; okay? Viruses are microorganisms --the smallest form of life. Other forms of micro-organisms are bacteria, fungi and protozoa. Measles causes a high fever, red/pink conjunctivae, a distinctive skin rash, diarrhea and lowered immunity so that many measles sufferers also have bronchopneumonia and other infections.
Being a virus, there is no direct treatment for measles sufferers yet, but it is controlled by preventing it using immunization when the baby is 9 months old. Severe measles kills. Mild and moderate cases may also die from complications of this dreaded disease. Even a baby that has survived an attack of the disease may still die from the sequelae of measles. Anybody--baby or adult --that has a fever, red eyes and a cough especially in the dry season should see a doctor quick --it may be measles. They should also pray. True it is viruses that cause measles, not spirits. But spirits may take advantage of the prostrate, extremely weak and lowered immune system of the patient and attack. Prayer wards off such attacks.

Clarify Contraceptives

Please Doctor,
I am a regular of yours and I must, first of all thank you very profusely for your keen, lucid and most informative way of answering people's questions in your column. Please keep it up. About last week's question and answer and one you did before on discharges, I have some very confusing questions for u. Doctor, the 5 discharges you spoke about, do they follow each other -- as in the blood, water, dry, pap, okro like discharge? Also, when can one have a baby boy and when a baby girl? Lastly did you say the doctor or the laboratory will do the HVS(High Vaginal Swab) test on a woman?
Please doctor i need this to be as confidential as always. I also want u to please prescribe pregnancy prevention drugs for me. but you have not. There are people that their period are not regular that is why I need this in order to avoid pregnancy.
Thank you doctor for your past replies, looking forward to more from you. You are the best.
Gladys Coshdawea, Jos, Plateau

Dear Gladys,
The hormones that control menstrual cycle phases also act on the glands of the cervix that produce mucus secretions. The mucus secreted by the cervix collects on the cervix and in the vagina. It changes in quality and quantity just before and during ovulation. With proper personal instruction, many women can learn to recognize the changing characteristics. Instruction in the cervical mucus method is usually given on a one-to-one basis. The cervical mucus method is also known as the ovulation method or the Billings method which depends on a sequential pattern
The cycle begins with menstruation. During vaginal bleeding, the flow disguises the mucus signs.
The menstrual period is usually followed by a few days when no mucus is present - these are "dry days."
As an egg starts to ripen, mucus increases in the vagina and appears at the vaginal opening. It is generally yellow or white, and it is cloudy and sticky, or tacky.
The greatest amount of cervical mucus usually occurs immediately before ovulation during the "slippery days." The mucus takes on a clear and slippery quality that resembles raw egg whites. When the mucus can be stretched between the fingers, it is called spinnbarkeit - German for stretchable. This is the peak period of fertility.
About four days after the slippery days begin, mucus may abruptly become cloudy and tacky, reduce sharply in volume, and a few dry days may return before your period starts.
Listen dear --- it is not true that you need any other thing to prevent pregnancy.
Of 100 couples who use the cervical mucus method for one year with perfect use, only three women will become pregnant; so note these ten points following and never be confused again about when you as a woman can get pregnant or not.
Every woman needs to know this so as to be able, by her very self --all by her self all alone, to control her fertility
1. All women menstruate for about 5 days in 28/30
2.During this period blood comes out of the woman's vagina.
3. During other days, not blood, but some other stuff come out of the vagina.Normal vaginal discharge is white or off-white, not itchy and not smelly.
4. These stuff or discharge are of 4 types-- and resemble 4 common substances.
5. The first is dry --nothing. Then water-- not sticky, just plain wet. Then pap --ogi or akamu--the cold type.
6. Finally there is the okro-like discharge that women have come out of their vaginas sometime during their monthly-- 28 day or 30 day or whatever the length of the cycle;okay?
7. So we have, blood; dry; wet like water, wet like ogi or akamu and wet like okro. To recap we have 4/5 discharges that women have during their monthly cycles. Blood; dry; water; pap; okro. The pap and okro constitute what is called ovulation mucus. It is the time when the woman's egg is around and she can get pregnant by the sperm fertilizing it if she has sex.
8.You can and should check which discharge you are having whenever you go to the loo everyday. Just like you use tissue paper to wipe your mouth, use same(tissue) to wipe your vulva(shows) and note as well as mentally record what discharge you're having for that day.Check it to make sure--each time you visit the ladies' that day.
9. To get pregnant, have sex when the discharge is plentiful, drawy and slippery like okro.
10.To avoid preganancy have sex at the time you are having any other discharge--except the okro -- and --- to be doubly sure -- the pap-like times. Follow this guide and you can't miss it. Contraceptives? One of the very best is the plain, good old condom; okay? --and remember that in these days of HIV/ AIDS, you are not allowed to forget it. POSTINOR is the name of a very useful oral contraceptive; unique in that it is made for the special need of the lady who has suffered rape or who did not use the normal daily oral contraceptives or did not check her signs or --as very often happens with sex, could not control events. Can be easily bought from the chemists and will, correctly used up till 72 hours after sex, prevent pregnancy; although the earlier after sex it is used, the better. Baby boy? Have sex on the very day of ovulation -- that is the last day of the okro. On that day also, you will notice a sharp pain on one or both of your sides, coinciding with your release of an egg. Sex before or after that day, you'll likely get a girl. HVS? The doctor will take the specimen from inside the woman's vagina and then send the specimen to the laboratory where the lab.scientist will work on (test) the specimen --not the woman or her vagina please-- and then issue a report. Growths in the Genitals

Dear Dr,
Greetings to you, Sir. I really thank you for the good works you're doing for humanity. Please I'd like you to give me a clue to what you think is wrong with me and also the cure to it. I once had sex with my girl friend and after some months, I had rashes around my private part which I used some cream to cure but after some time, I began to have some growth around my private part. I went for tests and I was told I had no sexually transmitted disease .But the thing is that I feel uncomfortable with the growth. Please what can I do to take it away? I hope it’s not through operation Please reply via my mail. Thanks in due anticipation.
Kolade, Calabar

Dear Kolade,
Very likely, you caught either a) Human Papilloma virus -- an STD
or b)Herpes --another STD; or c) Syphilis from this girl and you need proper management.
These 3 can cause growths/growth-like things to show up on the genitals,
after sex. Send another mail to ask for my address if you want to come see me so we can remove them from you without surgery.
Cheers

Look Before You Leap

Dear Doctor,
Greetings to you in the name of the Lord God Almighty. Doctor, I actually have a problem which I want to share with you, hoping that I will get an answer to my problem. My name is George and I reside in Abuja, I am 20 years old.
Doctor on the 20th of July, I had sexual intercourse with a girl that I’ve known for quit some time. Actually I did not only have sex with her, but I also sucked her private part so that she could get the pleasure properly. After it happened, I’ve not been myself because I don’t know if she is HIV POSITIVE or not and I did so to her.
Actually I used a condom in the love making but my fear is that I sucked her with my mouth-- my own mouth! Please doctor I want to find out if one can contract HIV through sucking a lady's Private part? I will really be grateful if my question is answered through my mail box.
I have given my life to Christ; I just pray I have not contracted the virus.
Greg, Gbagada

Dear Greg,
I also do hope with you that you never contacted the virus.
There's nothing you can do except--as you have given your life to Christ, to ask for forgiveness and then wait. You don't know if she is positive or negative and cannot know unless she is tested. But you see, there is also a window period when you cannot conclude anything about the HIV status of anyone who’s been exposed-- it's at least 3, up to 6 months. So, sorry, just wait and do not forget -- Always look before you leap.

To Avoid Appendicitis
Dear Doctor,
I like the good work you are doing.I would like to know what a person
should eat and what not to eat to avoid the risk of appendicitis? Also,
how does one avoid the draw back of gas and this bittery liquid in the
throat?
Thanks
Godson Ekejiuba, Afikpo

Dear Godson,
Most doctors will tell you -- and truthfully too -- that there is really no way to prevent appendicitis. (It's not contagious so you don't have to run away from those who have it). But I'll pass the same message across this way ---There are only three ways to prevent an appendicitis-- the first is to have surgery to remove your appendix totally so that it cannot even become inflamed in the first place -- and that happens more times than you or we doctors think -- I'll explain in a minute; the second way is to eat foods that are high in fiber content --lots of vegetables and roughage (now this also needs some explanations because some doctors will argue with you on that point. But more about that later). The third
way is to know so much and be aware of the warning signs of appendicitis that you get very early treatment and miss the necessary surgery and/or complications of the disease.
Okay. Let's start with the last
I'll list some seven(7) clinical features of an inflamed appendix (appendicitis). a)abdominal pain beginning around the center of the belly near the navel or belly button. b)This abdominal pain now shifting or shifted to the right lower quarter or quadrant of the belly, c) fever(hotness of the body) -- high or mild, d)loss of appetite or anorexia, e)the feeling to vomit --we also call this nausea, f) vomiting itself, f)constipation or diarrhea, g)a high white blood cell or leukocyte
count. If we were to summarize, we'd say serious abdominal pain in a child or young adult(usually ages 10 to 30) who refuses to eat or is vomiting and is having a fever must be considered to be appendicitis until proven otherwise.
Which brings us to the first point I was going to clarify. You see, 20 to 30 % of appendicitis cases are later discovered --after surgery--which, by the way is the only acceptable treatment for appendicitis --
not herbs; no alternatives/medicinals/homeopathy etc here (else the appendix will rupture causing death-dealing peritonitis - -and one will have only oneself to blame -- God forbid); 20 to 30 % appendectomies are later discovered to be missed diagnoses -- not necessary but were done because the
doctor missed the diagnosis -- it can be difficult to diagnose -- and went in for the only treatment known to man which is immediate surgery. Now while operating the doctor discovers that the appendix was not sick or inflamed after all and then did the next best thing -- removed the appendix -- since he has already opened the abdomen any way--and closed the patient up in the happy knowledge that this
particular patient can never have the problem of appendicitis again -- ever. Reason? His appendix has been removed as a preventive measure. You see what I mean? I can hear someone asking; "But this missing the diagnosis and operating -- when the patient didn't need the operation? Is that good enough?" The answer to that is, yes it is -- first the diagnosis can be difficult sometimes; yet the doctor must make up his mind since immediate surgery (so that ruptured appendix will not kill the patient) is the only treatment for appendicitis and it is better to operate and be proved wrong than not to operate; find out that you were indeed wrong and the patient now dies because you were foolish enough to postpone operation. In
any case, the appendix can be removed at will and it was once a fad in Europe some 200 to 300 years ago for the rich and high society people to do the surgery as a status symbol --simply because this
structure called the appendix -- found at the tail end of the small intestine where it joins with the large intestine or colon -- has been certified by human biologists to have absolutely no function in the body.
So it would not seem to matter whether you had an appendix or not -- whether you had removed it for fashion or it was still in your belly!!!
Eating food high in fiber (plant matter that is not digestible by the human gut -- and thus must be passed out as stool, thereby adding to the bulk of the feces) has not been medically proven to prevent appendicitis; but right on the other hand, it has been found out that those who eat such foods have a lower incidence of the disease. So, some doctors recommend it while other more cautious ones say they don't know. In summary, learn to recognize appendicitis early, eat much fiber and ask doctors useful questions such as this one. Gassing and bringing up bitter liquid --swallowed food that has gone beyond the stomach to the duodenum where bitter bile acids are added to it -- after eating-- is usually caused by Indigestion. Another common cause is Reflux Esophagitis. See a good doctor/internist/gastroenterologist.

Can We Marry? -- We are Both A+

Dear Dr,
I am a regular reader of your column titled You & Your health, in the
SUN newspaper. I want you to know about my situation. I am A+ and the girl I am dating is also A+. Can we be married to each other? Please enlighten me more about this. Please, I need your reply.
Thanks,
Celeste Gbosau, Badagry

Dear Celeste,
Ordinarily, you can get married. When we talk blood from the lab/ test/marriage angle, we have to differentiate two different but very important concepts. The first is the genotype --the type of Hemoglobin you have. The second is blood groups--what type of blood is your class or category. The two are different but often --understandably, though, confused for one another. Every human being has blood that belongs to one of four classes or groups A or B or O or AB. By another classification--the Rhesus classification -- all human beings are either Positive or Rhesus Negative. The big significance of grouping is the simple but very true and sobering fact that if you are given blood from another group that is not your own, death is the result. So the most important application of Blood group Serology is that of transfusion--simply find out the correct blood group needed to help some dying, bleeding patient from accident, fractures, operation, delivery or gunshot wound. Before a certain doctor called Carl Landsteiner discovered that humans are pre--grouped into these four groups, attempts to transfuse blood to bleeding victims of war, injury and damage was usually fatal and no one understood why. Until Dr Landsteiner elucidated it around 1900/1901, it was an extremely dangerous thing to have blood transfused--more often than not the patient died. Genotype is another matter entirely. Genotype refers to the type of Hemoglobin that a person carries. Hemoglobin is the dye or pigment that colours the blood red and carries oxygen around the body. Genotype is what you need to ascertain before you marry because the practical application is in heredity. If you are genotype AS, this means your parent 1 gave you An A; the other an S. And you in turn can give either an A or an S to your offspring. If your wife to be is also AS, for example, the same applies as above. Now, if you married and each time you both made a baby, you give that baby your S each, then you will have an SS as a child. Hemoglobin S is a variant hemoglobin that easily forces the red blood cell carrying the hemoglobin to assume a sickle--looking shape rather than the biconcave disc that red cells are meant to have. The result of this scenario is anemia--not enough blood for the victim; early death; suffering before death and so on. That is why it is a good thing for intending couples to go ahead and do the necessary lab tests to determine they are not risking having SS babies.
Now back to your question: You both can marry if your genotype and/or faith allow it. So do your genotype before we conclude on the matter. The A+ you mentioned is just Blood Groups--implications for blood transfusion only; not for heredity and the inheritance you are liable to give your children.

Problems Swallowing Food

Good day doctor,
Please I would like to seek your esteemed medical opinion on my case. I have been having problems swallowing food for about 5 years. What happens is that the food just seems to stay in the chest region and will have to be pushed down with water.
Another thing I noticed is that saliva seems to accumulate also in my chest region every time and causes me such discomfort so I have to look for a place to vomit it. The saliva, I believe, has a connection to my food not moving down normally. Really not sure what the problem is.
PLEASE DO NOT PUBLISH
KINDLY REPLY TO MY MAILBOX (IMPORTANT)
Taylor Throat, Taraba

Dear Taylor Throat,
We publish because we change your name and identity, location, contact, details -- every thing; so relax.You really need to see a good doctor/gastroenterologist.You look like a sufferer with a rare motor disorder (malfunctioning muscles and nerves) of the esophagus (food pipe) characterized by inability of the lower esophageal sphincter (junction) and esophageal muscle to relax as well as dilation of the esophagus called "Achalasia Cardia", a disease with the following features - -Difficulty swallowing; Regurgitation; Feeling of fullness; Esophageal dilation (seen on Xray) Impaired peristalsis(movement of food along the throat/food pipe); Inability of lower esophageal sphincter to relax; Swallowing difficulty (also called dysphagia); Chest pain; Regurgitation of stomach contents -this just means vomiting;
Weight loss (logical from the lack of food) Nocturnal cough (choking from overflowing saliva that 'miss road" into the wind-pipe. The doctor/specialist will order Chest Xrays; a Barium swallow test and Endoscopy to properly diagnose you. Treatment includes a bland diet, thorough chewing of food, and drinking water after eating; antacids;: keeping the head elevated, maintaining an upright position for 2 hours after eating, eating small meals, controlling chronic coughing, and avoiding constrictive clothing;some prescription medications and in severe cases surgery in which case there may be need to first build the patient up with good nutrition before surgery.

Daily Nose Blockage; Help!

Hello Dr,

I wish to commend you on the wonderful job you are doing and I pray God to continue to lift you to high levels.
Sir, I am presently at my wits end as a result of an ailment that has continued to plague my existence;and I hope you can, in your God given wisdom, advice me on how to handle it.
Sir, I have over the years continued to suffer daily nose blockage, a problem I can say has been with me right from my childhood days but which I was only able to identify as a health problem some five years back.
Having been consciously aware of this 'menace', I realize my two nostrils blocks every now and then [every 45mins to be precise], and I only get some relief after blowing out the resultant sputum. If it happens however that my place of location does not accord me the chance to rid my nose of the said sputum, I then become so uncomfortable with myself as I am left with no option than to use my mouth for routine respiration.
I had gone to the hospital with this complain to the Dr and he had recommended AFB test as well as chest x-ray,both of which came out negative. The Dr did however place me on some antibiotics and nose drops[Otrivin],which I took without any noticeable cure. I have also used other drugs prescribed by a pharmacist without any luck. In my desperate attempt to solve my problem, I talked to all sorts of medical practitioners, and it was in the process that a doctor told me about SINUSITIS, and the need for me to see an expert and more so that I might need to undergo a nasal operation. I am presently confused as undergoing any sort of operation is the last thing on my mind as I believe in my heart that a drug exists somewhere that can cure my problem permanently.
Sir,,just what is sinusitis? Is it possible for someone to be born with it? What causes it? Can my case be referred to as one[sinusitis]? and finally can I get a cure for it [if it is] without operation?
Thanks in anticipation of your reply.
Himba Kiolody, Taraba

Dear Himba,
I've got good news for you. Your condition, which medical doctors know to be a big problem and to behave the way you described, will disappear with the use of the herb called ginger. Sinusitis is infection of the air-cells of the skull--the bone that houses our brain. It generally is a frusration for doctors. Oto--Rhino--Laryngologists--doctors specialising in diseases of the Ear, Nose and Throat(ENT) may atimes help when they operate; but some still fail to get well after operation. There is, indeed a very special antibiotic that gets wonderful results specially in the peculiar situation of Chronic Sinusitis but it is a prescription drug and I cannot treat you by post--that's for face to face consultation. also, new research is showing that the real reason why sinusitis remains so recalcitrant to treatment may be ebecause the germs causing the problem half of the time are fungi; not bacteria as the use of antibiotics has all this time assumed. So, you might need to find a doctor who understands how to use anti--fungals in these circumstances. But ginger works wonders in these conditions --just send me an e mail and we'd be glad sort you out beautifully.

Biotin, Menses And Regularity

Doctor,

Please I want you to answer these few questions for me. What does vitamin H (biotin) gives in the body and its deficiency? What is irregular menstruation (details needed)? Whenever I take my bath my body will be scratching me and I want to know the cause and how to tackle it. I am having a short menstrual cycle -- it is on the 26th day I do see my menses and it stops 3-4days is there anything wrong in it ?
I would be grateful if my request is granted
Thanks Eva

Dear Eva,
What a question!
Well, Vitamin H or biotin is also called a times Coenzyme R. It is one of the 12 B complex vitamins and works closely with Pantothenic Acid, also known as Vitamin B 5 and there is really usually no deficiency of these vitamins to be seen in adult humans simply because the diet usually contains enough of them and even the intestines produce some of the stuff--so it’s really pretty esoteric stuff--this your interest in Biotin.
However, the job of this co factor in the body is for the proper production and maintenance of skin, hair and nails; for to aid the use of carbohydrates, fats and proteins in the body and to help against diabetes; some also claim that it aids the immune system.
Skin rashes, pellagra--rough, painful skin or dermatitis tiredness, not enough blood(or anemia)depression, anxiety, muscle pains and sleepy lassitude are some of the effects of lack of this vitamin.
All ladies who can get pregnant (--menstruating --like you) should not lack the B complex vitamins especially B12 and Folic acid so as not to have deformed babies and biotin deficiency in animals has been also linked with cleft palate-- a deformity of newborn babies where the upper lip and roof of the mouth open up in a cleft and refuse to close up; although this finding has not been corroborated in humans.
Where can you find biotin?
Liver, soya, eggs --a balanced and good diet. If you are afraid of a deficiency--which I've told you is rare; then take multivitamin supplements or B Complex every day. Read the label on the pack of the brand you buy to make sure it contains biotin.
Irregular menses is not what you have --26 days is alright; not every woman has 28 days-- okay?
Some have 22; others up to 45 and they are still normal. The important thing is that the particular number of days be consistent in your case. That is, you regularly have your menses every 26 days or thereabouts. It's not something rigid -- one or two days off the mark is nothing; okay? And bleeding for the number of days you do--so long as it's regular is okay. People bleed anywhere from just 2 to 7 days and it’s still alright. Okay?

Will Chest Pain Kill Me? Help!!

Good day sir,

I want to use this medium to thank you for the work you have been doing to many Nigeria and worldwide. More grease to your elbow, sir. I want to share my own problem with you and I know you can help me as well.
Sir, it all started in 2005, when I was schooling. I discovered that I have been experiencing pain whenever I go to urinate. It was not all that serious because it will come and go. Not until 2008, I discover that the pain is still trigger me and by then I went to a private hospital here in Abuja and did a urine and HIV test and I was told that I have staphylococcus and my HIV status is negative because then I do have internal heat, some time blood in my urine, body weakness hotness in my body and so on. Because of the money I was told to pay before treatment commenced which I couldn't pay I stopped the treatment then.
Sir, I was living with the pain in my body till December,2010 and I went back to the same hospital and did another test both HIV and the result still show that I have staph and my HIV status still remain negative but sir, am afraid.
Sir, the main reason why I am writing to you this note is that, now I am having chest pain about one month plus; I did not hit my chest on anything. Although, the urinating pain is not often the reason I said it is that, sometimes I will not feel the pain like two week but any week it will come I will not feel better.
Sir, I am afraid I may have liver problem or what could be the problem that my chest is paining me?
Please give me some health tip and as well advice me on what to do because am tired of living with this pain.
Sir, tell me what is wrong with me? Also, the money I was as pay in the hospital I went to is N120,000.00 for three months treatment but I don't have such money to be sincere with you.
I will commit suicide because of this problem. Sir, I was born in 1984.
Thank you so much for your kind gesture and I believe you will treat my own case with levity.
Please Sir, reply me through this email as I will not have the opportunity to get the answer on news paper in case you want to publish it.
Yours Faithfully,

Ama from Abuja.

Dear Ama,

First, you or anyone else, for that matter, must never allow the weeds of evil, threatening and fatal thoughts in our minds—for, as a man thinks, so is he. Mind affects matter--it's a fundamental rule of existence. because everything in the real, physical world was first a thought in the mind -- you yourself; the car you ride; the house you live in and so on. So since seeds eventually turn to fruits, be careful about the seeds you plant in your mind. You WILL NOT COMMIT SUICIDE at all -- courtesy of God's goodness and this intervention; Amen. Second, I swear to you by all I learnt in medicine in 40 years (including 7 years of studentship), if you do not treat this problem and treat it correctly, IT WILL NOT GO BY ITSELF; OKAY? Three, as an adult, the earlier you learn that in life there is no free lunch, the better. Please forget those dreams of free treatment and begin an intelligent struggle to source the funds you need to get well;-- that's just the way it is. Four, we are however, pocket -friendly in our approach to curing people; so relax. Five, the disease will not kill you --it's because your imagination is in overdrive that you fear so; Six, understand that when fears, worries, anxieties and so on overwhelm the mind, there are bodily symptoms that follow suit. These bodily symptoms help the human being to go RESOLVE THE CONFLICTS. The symptoms constitute what we call psychoneuroses and they come and go. They are fear-driven; fear-engineered and fear-founded. Once you understand this the symptoms tend to go away. Your chest problems, I believe, fall into this category. Just see us and we’ll help resolve everything. Finally, this does not mean that you do not have an actual disease of the body. You do and I suspect it is Chronic Prostatitis. You did say that he problem began in school. You never mentioned a woman but the truth is that d be very surprised if it has no basis in sexual escapades which boys are notorious for. These diseases are only half-treated when as a boy you catch them and the germs go and hide in the man’s prostate; affecting him with chronic disease for many years. We will cure you. You will need to come see us for a thorough, diligent and detailed check up to confirm or deny these impressions like many do from all the ends of Nigeria – Kano; Sokoto; Calabar; Ogbomosho; Jos; Bayelsa; Port Harcourt; Abakaliki; Onitsha – even from the Camerouns, Ghana and Benin. We have sent our address to you and wills end to anyone who calls for e mails for it.

Cheers
