Defeat Your Arthritis Now

Defeat Your Arthritis Now

Dear Doctor,
I want to thank you and commend your efforts to help solve people's problems in general and cure arthritis patients and make things affordable for us through your wet preparation in particular.I am 40 years old house-wife helping with my husband's business. Sometimes ago, my husband and I came to see you after we read your column where you said although you are an orthodox Western medical practitioner, you were offering to help arthritis patients with plant medicinal/botanical/nutritional/herbal preparations that would cure their arthritis instead of just giving mild pain-relief like Western medicines do.I have had arthritis for up to 3 years now and I had seen doctors by the dozen. They told me it was my weight -- I am 110 kilograms although I am almost 6 feet tall-- precisely 5ft 10 inches --that is 1.77 meters and large-boned and heavily built. To reduce weight on my arthritic knees, I began a program of exercise which was quite harrowing/uncomfortable/discomforting. Specifically, I had crackling noise in my knees whenever I ascended stairs -- which was most of the time because I live at the top floor of a 3 story building. My joints were swollen; I was unable to squat on the knees and all these were worse with activity. On waking in the morning, I would feel relief, but as the day wore on, and I became active, I got progressively worse. Doctors at 2 different private hospitals could not help me except with pain-killers and advise to exercise which was not comfortable at all simply because I had joint -pains and in exercise, it is majorly your joints that you use!! To get up from the kneeling position was always painful; I got up from seating or from a low seat with great difficulty and discomfort. To climb to my last floor apartment, the discomfort was much and I had to climb a little, rest a little, while I counted the stairs remaining for me to climb.
But after seeing you and listening to your explanation about the 3 choices of medicines (the wet; the dry and the ointment and tea), understanding their different prices (that help cut one's coat to the size of one's pocket) and taking away your wet preparation (for so very little) and using it --half a cup twice a day for about 3 weeks--I am a completely changed person!! My pains are gone!! I can kneel now (and even for long periods of time) without pain. The swellings of the joint has disappeared!! The crackling noise in my joints when climbing stairs are gone! I now climb the staircase with ease, no more puffing, huffing and counting of stairs to finish! Oh, I still cannot squat properly as there is just a little remainder of my pains that still hinder me, but, I am amazed that this your wet preparation has changed my life already and will yet change it the more as I continue for the full treatment which you say will need 2 more cans. Please I'm registering my desire to come to collect another can and I'm even contemplating ordering the more costly dry capsules you talked about for my mother in the village as I think that will be more convenient to send accross to her than the wet preparation. Again, my hubby and I are thinking of shipping the most costly ointment +tea to a relative oversea who has the same problem of medically incurable arthritis and has been told by surgeons over there that she needs to have total knee-replacement surgery! My dear husband who has supported me (you do remember he came with me when I first came to your office to collect my first 5 litre-can) cannot believe his good fortune at how nimble I have become in and out of bed as the arthritis, which wily-nily affected our love-lives before, has given way to a new zest in the bedroom which has put the honey back into our moon! It is now almost as if I have no weight--I wonder what happened to the theory that my knees were arthritic because I was overweight? Anyway, I'm now on my way to fullest recovery, singing Halleluia!!! Thank you very much for the good work you are doing doc,and may God bless you.
Sincerely,
Singing Sally, Lagos

Dear Singing Sally,
Well, the taste of the pudding is in the eating, as they say -- I actually used the stuff myself before deciding that such an effective and cheap remedy should be publicized. You (and as many others as are interested) are welcome to call these lines -- 08033466574; 08028240983; 08057441699 for whichever preparation you would like-- the wet, the dry (which you suggest for Mama) or the third prep.--ointment+tea. You will not regret your positive action. Act now!
Cheers

Dealing with Dementia

Dealing with Dementia
Dear Dr,
What is Dementia and how can one get the better of it? My mother has been diagnosed with the disease which makes her terribly forgetful. Doctor, please help with whatever information you have that can better her situation.
Obianuju   Anofuru, Abakaliki,

Dear Obianuju,
Dementia is defined  as a chronic or persistent disorder of the mental processes caused by brain disease or injury and marked by memory disorders, personality changes, and impaired (inadequate, damaged, incompetent, deficient, diminished, weakened) reasoning. Dementia is a general term for a decline in mental ability severe enough to interfere with daily life. Memory loss is an example. Alzheimer's Disease is the most common type of dementia. Dementia is not a specific disease. It's an overall term that describes a wide range of symptoms associated with a decline in memory or other thinking skills severe enough to reduce a person's ability to perform everyday activities. Alzheimer's disease accounts for 60 to 80 percent of cases. Vascular dementia, which occurs after a stroke, is the second most common dementia type. But there are many other conditions that can cause symptoms of dementia, including some that are reversible, such as thyroid problems and vitamin deficiencies. Dementia is often incorrectly referred to as "senility" or "senile dementia," which reflects the formerly widespread but incorrect belief that serious mental decline is a normal part of aging. Dementia IS NOT A NORMAL PART OF AGING.
How do you suspect or know you have dementia? Here are a dozen-odd possible symptoms of dementia: Recent memory loss - a sign of this might be asking the same question repeatedly. Difficulty completing familiar tasks - for example, making a drink or cooking a meal. Problems communicating - difficulty with language; forgetting simple words or using the wrong ones. Disorientation - getting lost on a previously familiar street, or even in the house, for example. Problems with abstract thinking - for instance, dealing with money. Misplacing things - forgetting the location of everyday items such as keys, or wallets, for example. Mood changes - sudden and unexplained changes in outlook or disposition. Personality changes - perhaps becoming irritable, suspicious or fearful. Loss of initiative - showing less interest in starting something or going somewhere.
To find out what is causing dementia symptoms, you need to undergo a thorough check-up with your doctor in order to determine what exactly is causing these symptoms. The checkup may include: blood tests; mental health evaluations; brain scans (only in some cases).
Doctors often can accurately diagnose the dementia symptoms in 90 percent of cases. If you know someone who appears to be losing mental abilities to a degree that interferes with daily activities and social interactions, consult a doctor right away. First, the doctor will try to authenticate the suspicion of Dementia and then try to distinguish whether it is Alzheimer’s Disease or Vascular Dementia. Alzheimer’s and dementia symptoms can overlap, but there can be some differences.
Both conditions can cause: a decline in the ability to think; memory impairment; communication impairment. Alzheimer’s will cause difficulty remembering recent events or conversations; apathy; depression; impaired judgment; disorientation; confusion; behavioral changes; difficulty speaking, swallowing, or walking in advanced stages of the disease. Dementia, on the other hand, will share some of these symptoms, but they include or exclude other symptoms that can help make a differential diagnosis. Lewy body dementia (LBD), for example, has many of the same later symptoms as Alzheimer’s. However, people with LBD but are more likely to experience initial symptoms such as visual hallucinations, difficulties with balance, and sleep disturbances. People with dementia due to Parkinson’s or Huntington’s disease are more likely to experience involuntary movement in the early stages of the disease. There are some medications and treatments that may help manage some of the symptoms, so it’s important to seek help as soon as possible.
Treatment for dementia will depend on the exact cause and type of dementia, but many treatments for dementia and Alzheimer’s will overlap. Alzheimer’s treatment - No cure for Alzheimer’s is available, but options to help manage symptoms of the disease include: medications for behavioral changes, such as antipsychotics; medications for memory loss, which include drugs of the class of cholinesterase inhibitors. Although cure, as has been said is not in sight, there are wonderful complementary remedies that aim to boost brain function or overall health, that can and do make a positive difference. There are also medications for sleep changes. Call the help-lines for further information.

Cheers

Doctor, What’s Eosinophilia?

Doctor, What’s Eosinophilia?

Dear Dr,
I recently went to the laboratory to do a full blood count as recommended by a friend. The result came out and said I had 9% Eosinophilia in my White Blood Cell Count. Every other thing about the blood test was normal. The normal was supposed to be between 1 and 6 per cent. What can be wrong with me?
Jay Bulama-Spiff; Warrri

Dear Jay,
White Blood Cell count is a normal part of a Full blood Count test. After telling the total count, this test will break the white Cell Count into its differentials. Meaning, the blood contains red blood cells and white blood cells. The white cells are the defense component of the blood while the red cells function to carry and supply oxygen round the tissues in the body. The white cells, these defense agents, are of various types, namely neutrophils, leucocytes, monocytes, eosinophils  and basophils. That’s just like saying that the defense agents in a nation’s armed forces consist of the army, navy, air force, police and civil defense. The Differential Count tells us what percentage of the total count each of these five types of white cell represent in your own blood as against normal counts. Thus, for example, neutrophils are normally expected to be 40-75 percent while eosinophils make up1-6 percent. Physicians interprete your laboratory report to make a diagnosis of what the problem might be in your situation. In your own case your eosinophils were way high up in the 9percent range. Diseases that account for this Eosinophilia(high eosinophils percentage) include allergies of every type( food; drug; atopic hay fever); asthma; parasitic diseases(as in worms); fungal diseases, skin, endocrine, tumours/cancers, autoimmune diseases (HIV/AIDS is a classical one). What your doctor needs to do now is check your complaints and history; examine you thoroughly to find what may be the cause of your Eosinophilia. Most likely it will be worms; round-worms. A simple test of your stool will detect this and he will then give you medicines that will get rid of the worms – anthelminthics, we call them
Cheers
